Duo Sureño presents the hidden masterpieces of the song repertoire with the unique combination of voice and guitar. Dedicated to new music, the duo has recently released their new CD entitled At the Edge of the Body’s Night, featuring a performance of William Neil’s setting of the poetry of Mark Strand.
Neil’s composition has also inspired local painter Don Hodges to create impressions of the seven sections of the piece which will be in display in the lobby of the Temple Theatre. Project Fourth Stream, pianist William Neil and saxophonist, Tom Gullion , well-known to Viroqua audiences, have been collaborating since 2001 expanding into new avenues of focused collaboration, composition and improvisation, will open the evening with new music and video projections inspired by Don Hodges paintings and the photography of Drew Shonka.
Audience members will be able to view the paintings and make silent bids for purchase of these stunning graphic impressions. All proceeds from the auction, ticket sales and CD sales will be contributed to Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School.
